Timehop: Our First Christmas Tree

I have an app on my phone called Timehop, and it connects to my social media sites and pulls photos and updates posted on that exact day in history.

On this day in 2012, I posted this picture of Shane and I at Home Depot buying our first Christmas tree. We had been married for a few months when this picture was snapped... and yes my hair was super short and super brunette.

Shane and I lived together before we were married, but that year we were far too broke to even afford a Christmas tree. We were straight out of college and saving for a wedding, so I was so thrilled the next year when we were able to decorate for Christmas!

Easter Weekend

We had a wonderful weekend! On Saturday, I worked on some projects around the house while Shane studied for his upcoming CPA exam. We had a very productive day. We ordered pizza for lunch, and that night Shawna and Kelly came over to visit.

^^^ This is what my lazy Saturday mornings look like. While Shane sleeps in, I cuddle with the dogs on the couch and watch trash TV :)

On Sunday, we took Munca to church. She loves when we visit her church and spend time with her. While we were there, I ran into my counselor from Grayson High School. Mr. Jackson had a huge impact on my life, and it was great to see him and his family.

After church, we drove Munca and her "gentleman friend" out to Grayson to spend time with my family. We had a fun time seeing everyone and playing with Rowan.

Munca called me twice to remind me not to wear shorts and flip-flops to church... haha!! She cracks me up!

Rowan was so excited to see her Aunt C!!

THROWBACK:

Last Easter, we went to my Uncle Tony and Aunt Loretta's house
and the kids had a wonderful time beating up Uncle Shane.

Update Through Pictures

I have not had the time to write a post lately. Work is crazier than ever, and we are doing a lot around the house to get it ready for a shower I am hosting for my sweet cousin! Here are some blurry, poor quality pictures to recap the past 2 weeks.

We surprised Shawna at a fun bar in Senoia to celebrate her 30th birthday. I am taking her to get a palm reading when we can coordinate our schedules... how fun is that?

This couple is so much fun!!

I had to go into work over the weekend last weekend, and it was so hard leaving these 3 cuties!!

The weather has been so pretty lately, and the dogs have enjoyed playing in the yard.

My permanent retainer fell out a few weeks ago, so I had to head back to Snellville for an appointment with my orthodontist. I have not seen him in almost 9 years!! I decided to drive by the house where I grew up. This house used to be blue with red shutters and white trim, and we had a small playhouse in the back that my Uncle Greg designed.

This is random... but took cute not to share!!

.
We went to Pike's for Shane to get some new trees. In promotion of the first day of Spring, Pike's was passing out wine and snacks!! I drank wine while Shane pushed me around on this cart. I am sure it embarrassed him terribly... but you have your entire life to be old and just a few years to be young!! #YOLO
He is mildly obsessed with yard work. He researches plants and different planting techniques for hours (literally hours). He has done such a great job transforming our yard. Below is a panoramic view.

You can see the transformation here.

Last Saturday was our year and a half wedding anniversary. We ordered food and watched movies together. :)

Our neighbors love playing in the front yard. We often go over and spend time with them. They enjoy playing with Mr. Shane, and they love hugs and popsicles from Mrs. Celeste. They just got a new basketball goal, and this is Bryson sitting in the box! He is too cute!

We are having some neighbors over this weekend for a cookout. I plan on working on a huge painting project while Shane studies for his upcoming CPA exam. He will be taking the 2nd of 4 exams on 4/14. He studies a minimum of 2 hours a day on top of working... I am so proud of how diligent and dedicated he is.

Valentine's Day

I hate when people say that Valentine's Day is just a way for the card companies to make money... sure they benefit from all holidays but how could you  not want to take full-advantage of a designated day to show your love for those you care so much about? Life gets so busy and hectic, so I am grateful that Valentine's Day reminds us to slow down and simply love one another.

Last year was our first married Valentine's Day, and I had just returned from a girl's trip to Helen. I was CRAVING Brunswick Stew, so we went to Sonny's for dinner. I surprised Shane with Country Megatickets last year which lead to some incredible concerts and wonderful memories singing and dancing in the lawn!

This year, we kept it simple because our week was crazy with the snow storm. When I was finally able to get out of the house on Thursday afternoon, I was so excited to see all of the balloons and decorations at Publix. I got Shane a sweet card and bought salmon and asparagus to make him a special dinner. I also got the ingredients to make his favorite dessert!

Last year, he surprised me at work with flowers and a big balloon and took me out to lunch. It was so sweet and thoughtful. I knew this year he and I both had meetings at lunchtime so he wouldn't be able to do that again, so I was shocked when I saw him in the hallway just outside my office on Friday afternoon. He was able to leave work early to come surprise me with flowers, and that made me feel so special! I introduced him to some of my friends at work and showed him my office. It was so sweet of him to stop by! I could tell he rushed a bit because inside the card he gave me, he wrote "Happy Vantine's Day". It made us laugh so hard!

When I got home on Friday, we each had a drink and spent some quality time together while I cooked for him. I shared some exciting news that I received on the way home from work. We ate in the dining room and then sat by the fire for the rest of the night and talked. No TV, no phones... just us!
^^ This is our FIRST EVER Valentine's Day.
We went to Olive Garden and to a movie, and I sent him on a scavenger hunt around Athens.

This is a picture from Valentines Day 2013
when he surprised me at work before taking me to lunch at Tin Lizzie's.

We were snowed in... for the second time this year!

So pretty!

Throwback: Christmas

Before I post about our incredible Christmas this year, I want to post pictures from the past.
