2013 Recap

What an incredible year! We are beyond blessed, and we can't wait to see what the future holds! Here is a recap of our first year as husband and wife.

I started a new job, which prompted us to sell our starter home and get a new house. We have made so many new friends, and we are very thankful for the relationships we have built.

We started 2013 off with a kiss at Shawna and Matt's house (yes... my hair was brown!)

We went on a lot fun dates and spent a lot of quality time together

We cheered at the Special Olympics

We gave care packages to Edward, our homeless friend, who we passed every morning when we carpooled to work together

Shane brought flowers to my work on Valentine's Day and took me to lunch

I gave him Country Megatickets

Makenzie was born. I traveled to KC to help set up her nursery and again when she was born. I also took a roadtrip with Munca, Alison and Greg to KC for her baptism.

I rode a horse for the first time

We sold this house in Covington

And closed on a new house in Acworth

We took a private plane over Athens to see where we met and got engaged from a bird's eye view

I rode a ferris wheel for the first time, and went to the fair for the first time

Lissa and Jason got married in KC

I will always cherish these special girl friends. Some of us took a girl's trip to Helen in January, and we need to plan more of those!

I went skydiving

We celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary

And we said our sweet goodbye to this incredible man. I love you Uncle Greg!

Shane started studying for his CPA. He has already passed one of the tests. He has three more to go. His resolution for 2014 is to finish his CPA!

My resolution is to be healthier. I take advantage of the fact that I can eat anything and never work out, but I am not in healthy shape... at all! I want to concentrate on eating better, exercising, and stretching more. I also want to dedicate more time to my true friends! I have recently learned that quality of friends far outweighs quantity.

Shane and I are going to Cass and Bryan's house tonight with some other neighbors. We hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year!

Stay-cation

It is very rare that Shane and I have several days off work together that we are not traveling or have some sort of commitment. It was INCREDIBLE to spend these past few days together... a stay-cation! We got off work early on Christmas Eve, and we took the two days after Christmas off!

It was so refreshing to go about our plans at a leisurely pace. We never set an alarm. We ate out almost every meal, which meant no cooking or dishes! We watched movies and caught up on our TV shows that we record. We went shopping and got a ton of business professional clothes for work. We were also able to spend a lot of time with family! Christmas was wonderful, and we made a lot of great memories.

This morning, I made Shane breakfast. I leave for work before he wakes up every morning, so I rarely get to make him breakfast. We were productive the rest of the day. I cleaned the house since family is coming to stay with us for Uncle Greg's funeral. Shane crossed a lot off of his list as well. He ran some errands and fixed the garage door. He also re-wired the switches downstairs so the switches all go down to turn the light off. He is so handy!

RIP Uncle Greg

My sweet Uncle Greg passed away on Friday December 28. He was diagnosed just a few weeks ago with an inoperable brain tumor. He was given just 3 months to live. I kept a blog on behalf of my family with updates of his condition. For all of my friends and family that read our blog, here is a link to the blog I kept.

Christmas 2013

We had a wonderful Christmas. We both got off work early on Christmas Eve, which gave us time to visit Greg before going to church. We offered to pick Munca up for church, and we arrived my parents were with us to surprise her.

After a beautiful candle light service at Munca's church, we went to Waffle House. Yummy!

Christmas morning we slept in till about 10. We enjoy sleeping late when we get the chance. After opening our stockings and presents, we relaxed and spent time with one another. Shane helped me make Mac N Cheese and a fresh salad to bring to dinner that night. Later that afternoon, we went to visit Nana who is recovering from a stroke. Bless her heart.

That evening, we celebrated with Shane's side of the family at Shawna and Matt's house. It was so great to spend time with everyone!
