Skydiving

I can’t even begin to describe how INCREDIBLE it was to skydive. A huge thank you to Shane for not only arranging for me to do the jump, but for agreeing to every upgrade to make sure it was the ultimate experience. I will never be able to explain how grateful I am for your support of my crazy bucket list dreams! Thank you for making it possible for me to dream with my eyes open and live life to the fullest!
We arrived at the skydive location early (as always), so I wasn’t surprised when I was assigned to Load 1. After signing my life away and watching a DVD, it was time to wait for my name to be called over the speaker. Shane was so sweet to upgrade the video package and upgrade to the higher altitude so my free fall would be 60 seconds long from 14,000 ft. instead of 30 seconds from 10,000 ft. I think it made all the difference, because from the time the plane took off ‘till my feet touched ground it was only about 15 minutes… and it goes by FAST, and by fast I mean 120 MPH!!

My tandem instructor was hilarious. His sarcastic demeanor made it impossible for me to be nervous. On the way up, I kept looking at his wrist to see the altitude and asking, “How much longer?”, “Are we there yet?” He went through some instructions and at the end of reciting them all, he said, “…and if you forget all of that just have fun!” J
I was the second jumper, and when I saw the girl jump ahead of me I realized that her instructor is the one who actually jumped. She was pretty much just strapped at his will. I asked JJ if I could be the one to count us off and make the leap, and he was cool enough to agree. He was very surprised that I wasn’t nervous at all, and he even asked “Do you even care about your life at all? You aren’t even nervous!” He said most people are at least a little nervous, especially on their first jump. Haha… not me!

I remember facing out of the plane and saying, “Ready, set… JUMP!!!!!!!!” In the DVD you can see me lunge down and leap as far out as I could! On the way down, I kept saying to myself to stop looking at Leslie (the one filming) so I could soak up the view, and I am so glad I did.
Once JJ pulled the parachute, we were both laughing hysterically and yelled, “It is so cold!” It was -10 degrees. I remember looking down and realizing just how far 2.7 miles is.

After I landed, I ran to Shane and gave him a huge hug! We watched other divers for about an hour while we waited on my DVD.  Here are some pictures…
My view just before the jump. 2.7 miles above ground!

Ready...

Set...

Jump!!!!

I had to put my hand over my mouth to breathe

"It's cold!"

Just before he opened the parachute

"Let's do it again!"

Another busy weekend...

What a wonderful weekend Shane and I had with family and friends. Friday night I got home late from work… gotta love Friday evening traffic in Atlanta. The prolonged commute wasn’t too bad because it gave me a chance to chat on the phone with my sweet Daddy. He is suffering with shingles right now, (bless his heart!) so I was glad he felt well enough to talk for a bit!

When I finally got home, Shane and I had pizza and then headed to Walmart. We had a few things to pick up for Kelly’s engagement party. When we got home we were too tired to pack (go figure). We watched a little TV and headed to bed early instead.

On Saturday we spent the day at Shawna’s helping set up for Kelly and Sean’s engagement party! We had so much fun celebrating with them! Here are some pictures.

Sean's parents were so great! We loved meeting his family!

I am SO blessed to have these two in my life!

Sunday morning we were able to sleep in a little bit before meeting Kelly, Sean and Shawna for lunch at Chili’s. They joined us at our final walkthrough at the house so they could see the new crib. It was great to be able to spend a little more time with them!

We can't wait for this sign to say "SOLD" on Friday!

After the walkthrough, Shane and I headed to BrandsMart with the dimensions for the fridge in hand. We picked out one quickly and then headed home. I had every intention of being productive when we got home, but I decided to take a quick nap instead. When I woke up, Shane had taken down all of the decorations throughout the house. It was so bitter sweet because now our walls and windows are so bare. We packed a few more boxes together, and then I made some dinner before we headed to the Luke Bryan, FL/GA Line and Thompson Square concert.

We stopped at Ingles on the way to get “cash back” for parking. I bought us each a water bottle and forgot the $20 in the U-Scan console. Typical!! Luckily Shane asked me about the money in enough time for us to stop at an ATM, and when I called Ingles they had found the money and said they would keep it at customer service! Crisis averted.

We had a great time singing and dancing at the concert. Live music and people-watching are two of my favorite things… so I always have a blast at concerts! It poured for 15 minutes (Appropriate forecast since Luke sings, “Rain is a good thing…”).I loved every minute of dancing in the rain until I was freezing afterwards and all my makeup was gone! Shane took cover under our blanket--- clearly he is the practical one, but he was nice enough to let me wear his shirt afterwards!  We got home around midnight after a trip to Taco Bell. Monday certainly came too soon, but I am so glad we had a wonderful weekend together!

Our poor doggies missed us when we were gone all weekend!

[Last] Last Weekend

The past 2 weeks have been crazy at work and with the home buying process, so I haven't had much free time to update the blog. Last weekend, Shane and I spent some quality time together on Friday night. Saturday, I went to Savannah for my first business trip at my new job! It was great. I really enjoy the event planning aspect of my new career, and I look forward to the opportunity to continue to travel. While I was out of town, Shane re-finished his Mom's furniture from when she was a little girl! It turned out GREAT and will look amazing in our new guest room! Our new house is about 3 times the size of our current home, so I am really looking forward to decorating all of the extra space we will have. Shane is very talented with building and refinishing, and I am determined to put my sewing machine to good use.

On Sunday, I got back from Savannah in just enough time to unpack and unwind a little before we met our dear friends, Jenny and Maston Boyd, for the Brad Paisley concert. We went out to dinner and got some pizza and then headed to the lawn seats at Lakewood. What an incredible performance. Brad Paisley is by far one of the best live artists I have ever seen. I went to meet up with some of my girl friends to say a quick hello, which put me in the right place at the right time to get free seat upgrades for the 4 of us! How cool is that!?

They are so adorable.

We think this is a great fit for them since they have their 4th baby on the way!

Me and the girls :)
