Our sweet Canaan turned ONE on September 3, 2018 - and we couldn't help but celebrate! We had two separate birthday parties for him because we just have so many special people in our lives!
We had one in our home at the end of August for close friends and family, and the second party was with all of our neighbors the weekend after his birthday at the pool! It was crazy and busy and exhausting, but I wouldn't have had it any other way! I love planning anything that brings people we
love together!
Obligatory smash cake picture!
This smash cake came free with our cupcake order from Publix!
We displayed his monthly pictures, and it was so sweet to see how he grew throughout the year!
We had some framed pictures around the house...
We had a slideshow of pictures along with his favorites things all on display.
Cupcakes was easier than cake because you don't have to worry about cutting/serving!
We had the guests bring a handwritten note for Canaan to open when he is 18. We also asked that they sign a children's book as the "guest book" and vote if Canaan looked more like Mama or Dada. One person wrote MaDa which made it a tie - but we all know he is Shane's little twin! He does have my coloring with the blonde hair and blue eyes, but otherwise he is ALL SHANE!
My precious (and ridiculously crafty!) neighbor was so sweet to make my vision come to life with this balloon banister! Thank you, Gina!
I decided not to do a "theme" and just keep generic banners that we could continue to use in the future! I think it turned out cute!
Our sweet Nana (my best friend Angela) made Canaan this "Wild One" shirt, and that could not be more true! This kid is WILD!
Costco for the win for all of the food!
My sweet group of girlfriends all traveled to the party, and that meant so much to me!
Before he got too messy!
Sugar coma!
I didn't really think through what to do after the smash cake - thank God for the water hose!
Canaan and his cousin Aiden
Canaan's second nap was approaching... so he was over all the pictures!
Don't we all love Ashley!
LuLu and Grandpa Bill
So sweet!
Canaan and Rayna
Haha... more Ashley!
Canaan's first friend Emily (aka: "LuLu") lives right next door!
Angela and Steve - Canaan's Godparents
I babysat a little girl named Dakota that gave Canaan this adorable jersey for his birthday, and it was perfect for a little First Birthday photo shoot in the backyard.
I'm sure he will love football just like his Daddy!
Always a diaper and a t-shirt!
Making another cake for Canaan to smash!
Sweet boy!
Daddy is always the fun one!
Ready to help me add sprinkles!
First birthday breakfast!
Canaan's birthday will always fall on Labor Day weekend - so I bet we will always be celebrating poolside! His first pair of pool shoes were so tiny and cute!
His poor little feet got torn up in the pool because he refused to wear the pool shoes!
Poolside snacks with Daddy!
Family picture!
He marched around the pool like this and loves all of the attention from everyone! Haha - go figure!
12 month photo shoot!
That expression!
Ok - over it!
One balloon.
Oh how he hates a hat! I think the helmet phase jinxed us!
Still pissed about the hat!
Sharing with Dada
Haha... so messy!
3 teeth!
It was so sweet for Shane to take off work to join us for Canaan's one year well visit.
Canaan's birthday pool party was "oFISHially ONE" themed - and it was CUTE! I planned it with my sweet friend April because our boys were born just 5 days apart ... and let me tell you, planning a birthday party with another type-A, pinterest-loving mama is the way to go! We divided and conquered and it was a breeze!
The decorations were so cute!
You guessed it ... more smash cakes!
We love Walter and Kenz, and are so thankful they love Canaan!
Canaan and Barrett look like twins sometimes!
Luckily, the pool has an outdoor shower, so rinsing Canaan off was so easy!
Shane was an expert at this point!
My hope is that Canaan is always surrounded by happiness and love every day, but especially on his birthday! I hope he always feels as cherished and celebrated as he was on his very first birthday!
We love you, Canaan!
